The failure of reaching orgasm during sexual intercourse is better known and researched in women than men. Anorgasmia, also known as orgasmic disorder, is less common in men. This condition impairs not only the sexual performance but the sexual lives as well.

Something about Anorgasmia

About 1 to 10 million men are known to suffer from this condition. This variation has connections with the qualities of the condition in different individuals. Some men experience anorgasmia during sex but they are able to reach orgasm while the are stimulated sexually but do not engage in an intercourse.

Causes

Around 90% of the orgasmic disorder are related to psychological issues. Various surveys and tests have pointed out performance anxiety as one of the leading causes of orgasmic problems.
Some other causes include the deep rooted hatred towards sexual activity starting from the developmental phases of life. Childhood sexual abuse, or even adult sexual abuse may be a contributing factor. Marital problems, troubled relations, a boring sexual life can also prove to eb a handful.

Apart from aging which is a natural cause of majority of disorders, drug or alcohol abuse , chronic illness, pain, injury can have a negative impact on the sexual lives.

Treatment
The best treatment option is sexual counseling. The counselor will not prescribe any medications but will give proper advice and some assignments for the couple to engage themselves in. This will help in improving the status of mind and go a long way in treating the condition.
